In this performance, Karla Ekatherine Canseco and Christal Pérez, explore the boundaries of the body and how it can be used as a medium of mark making to conjure their own histories.
Karla Ekatherine Canseco (b. 1996) is a interdisciplinary artist based in Los Angeles. Her practice explores the nuances of identity through different mediums, particularly clay and performance She recieved a B.A. in Art from Cal Arts. Her first solo exhibition was at New Image Art, Los Angeles (2022), and has been included in group exhibitions and performances at Human Resources, Los Angeles, Navel, Los Angeles, Gamma Galleria, Gaudalajara, Mexico. Karla also exhibited at the Palm Springs Museum in the Outburst Projects in the summer of 2022.
Christal Pérez is an interdisciplinary artist and writer based in Los Angeles, California. Her work interrogates the meta-narratives of history and exposes its fissures, through sculpture, performance and video. She recieved a B.A. in Art from UCLA in 2019, and recently attained an M.A. in Art History at Williams College in 2022. She has shown at Vincent Price Art Museum, The Box, New Wight Gallery, Cal Arts, USC MFA Roski Studios, Human Resources, Last Projects, The Reef and Palos Verdes Art Center, to name a few.
